Tuesday afternoon at the International Leadership and Business Internship brought a surge of clarity, thanks to a transformative session led by lecturer Gerald Gangaram. His talk, “Leading with Purpose: Inspiring Exceptional Leadership,” invited interns to look inward, exploring empathy, authenticity, and values as core components of leadership.

Drawing from a remarkable military background and global experience, Gerald shared real-world case studies and personal stories that turned abstract concepts into vivid lessons. With each example, he guided interns to consider their own leadership styles and reflect on how they want to inspire change, not just manage tasks.

As intern Abigail D’Morais put it:

“My favorite part of the week has to have been today. Listening to Gerald Gangaram speak was honestly moving. I was dialed into the entire lecture and I didn’t feel lost or misunderstood while he was speaking. I felt connected with what he spoke about and I took a lot out of it.”

Gerald’s message was more than motivational—it was an invitation to lead with courage, self-awareness, and a sense of service. Interns left the session with a renewed understanding that true leadership means lifting others, aligning actions with purpose, and never losing sight of the impact one voice can have.
