Building Leaders Through Global Experiences

As the week continued, interns strengthened both their leadership skills and their understanding of international diplomacy through a combination of consulting work, professional development, and embassy visits. The day's experiences encouraged students to think beyond the classroom while continuing to develop meaningful solutions for their Nigerian business partners.

The day began with interns attending "Leading with Purpose: Inspiring Exceptional Leadership," presented by Gerald Gangara. Drawing from his experiences in military service and international leadership, Gerald shared valuable lessons on leading with integrity, humility, and purpose. He challenged students to recognize that leadership is not defined by position, but by the ability to inspire others, build trust, and create meaningful change within their communities and organizations.

Following the leadership presentation, interns visited the Embassies of Finland and Egypt, where they explored how diplomacy strengthens international partnerships and promotes cooperation between nations.

At the Embassy of Finland, students learned about Finland's commitment to education, innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration. Embassy representatives discussed the country's relationship with the United States, its leadership in technology and clean energy, and the important role diplomacy plays in addressing global challenges. Interns gained a greater appreciation for Finland's emphasis on international cooperation and forward-thinking solutions.

At the Embassy of Egypt, they explored Egypt's rich history alongside its modern diplomatic and economic priorities. Representatives discussed Egypt's strategic role within the Middle East and Africa, its international partnerships, and its efforts to promote regional cooperation and economic development. Students also viewed historical artifacts and artwork that showcased Egypt's remarkable cultural heritage, offering a deeper understanding of the nation's lasting global influence.

After returning from the embassy visits, interns joined their scheduled Business Partner Calls, reconnecting with the Nigerian entrepreneurs they have been supporting throughout the week. Teams shared updates on their consulting projects, asked follow-up questions, and gathered additional feedback that will help strengthen their final recommendations. These conversations continued to build the strong partnerships that are central to the internship experience.

By the conclusion of the day, interns had gained valuable insight into both leadership and international diplomacy. Through Gerald Gangara's presentation, visits to the Embassies of Finland and Egypt, and continued collaboration with their Nigerian business partners, students further developed the leadership and global perspective needed to become successful consultants.
