Brains, Biosecurity, and Big Ideas

Wednesday morning had interns thinking on a global scale! Groups split up, with one starting off in Dr. Giordano's session on global biosecurity and policy while the other sat in on the second part of Dr. Wurzman's neurodiversity lecture, then swapped so everyone got both. The morning wrapped up with a deep dive into emerging biotech and biodefense, keeping the energy thoughtful and engaged right up until lunch.

After refueling, interns headed to Dr. Casebeer's Neuroscience for Peace session, followed by some team time with Leadership Initiatives' Executive Director Marshall Bailly learning more about the International Internship Program. The afternoon rolled into a hands-on Backyard Brains activity, giving interns a fun, tactile look at neuromodulation, while groups also sat down with Dr. Shook and Dr. Wurzman to walk through their projects ahead of tomorrow's big presentation day.

With presentations right around the corner, the day ended with high energy and a little bit of friendly panic as everyone dove into group work, putting the finishing touches on their projects before dinner and a well-earned reset for tomorrow.
