The final day arrives, and with it, a sense of both excitement and reflection. Interns gather for breakfast, buzzing with anticipation as they prepare for one last opportunity to demonstrate everything they've learned. With materials in hand and nerves turning into confidence, they head to American University, ready to take the spotlight.
Throughout the morning, each group presents their direct and cross-examinations, showcasing the skills, critical thinking, and teamwork they’ve built over the past week. Brandi Harden listens closely, offering thoughtful, encouraging feedback that highlights each team’s strengths while guiding them toward continued growth. As peers observe one another’s presentations, they learn from different strategies and styles, deepening their understanding of courtroom dynamics and public speaking.
Once all presentations wrap up, students complete their final program forms, reflect on the experience, and ask any final questions. Soon after, Executive Director Marshall Bailly introduces the International Internship Program (IIP), sharing how students can continue working with Leadership Initiatives throughout the academic year. The opportunity sparks excitement, and many interns quickly sign up to extend their involvement beyond the summer.
To celebrate the close of a powerful week, interns gather one last time for a fun and festive evening. Music, dancing, games, and shared laughter fill the room as students relax and enjoy each other’s company. Candid moments, photos, and inside jokes mark the evening—turning a group of peers into a lasting community.
As the program comes to a close, interns reflect on how much they’ve grown in just a few days. They walk away with new friendships, meaningful experiences, and a stronger sense of purpose. Though the week is ending, the journey is just beginning—for many, this is the first step in a lifelong path of leadership and advocacy.
