Interns in the AI & Business Strategy Internship kicked off the week with a keynote speech introducing their program from the incredible Dr. Spar! Dr. Spar, a lecturer in Georgetown's Artificial Intelligence program, as well as a strategist for Deloitte, spoke about the future of AI and responsible innovation, considering the technology's use in a variety of different contexts. He also discussed how AI is currently being used in companies across the world, and invited interns to think about how to address issues with AI solutions.

Initially sharing his insights from years in the industry, Dr. Spar eventually turned to the interns to learn more about their experiences with and thoughts about Artificial Intelligence. Delving into the ethics of using AI for things like pricing for insurance companies, or automating various processes in a healthcare setting, the interns provided fantastic comments about the implications of using AI to address issues across different industries.

One of the most rewarding parts of working at Georgetown is its proximity to some incredible sights and historic spots. After their keynote speech, the interns embarked on a tour of the monuments here in Washington DC! Starting at the World War II memorial, interns had the opportunity to explore with their teams and even pose for a group picture in front of the Washington Monument! Ultimately, they ended the tour by paying a visit to our 16th president at the Lincoln Memorial before returning to Georgetown University.

A day filled with team bonding, historic tours, and brainstorming sessions with AI at the heart of it all, this week of AI business could not have gotten off to a smoother start. The interns are excited to begin working on their proposals and meeting with their businesses to work towards providing them with AI-based solutions!
